* Tabs - LSD is sometimes blotted onto sheets of paper, cut up into little squares called tabs
* Trips - note than an LSD experience is known as a trip; being on LSD is known as tripping
* Trade names - e.g. Strawberries; tabs are often illustrated, and specific batches named after the illustration or colour of paper used.
MDMA:
* Ecstacy
* Dennis the Menace - capsules with red and black stripes, from the children's comic character Dennis the Menace who wore a red and black striped top
* Doves - some tablets are white and stamped with a dove shape
* E - shortened version of Ecstasy
* Love hearts
* M25s - named after a story that early MDMA tablets were produced in a utility vehicle driving round the M25 motorway
* Mitzies - shortened version of Mitsubishi: the company logo is stamped on the tablets
* Molly - pure version of MDMA
* Pills - common street name in the UK, because MDMA is most commonly found in pill form
* Roobarb and custard - characters from the children's TV series Roobarb
* Other brand names such as Speckled Doves, New Yorkers, Mercedes, etc.

* Dragon - when smoked, the thick smoke of heroin is said to resemble the tail of a dragon (hence 'chasing the dragon')
* Golden brown - from the colour of heroin
